Sabacc Variations We Offer

Classic Sabacc

Classic Sabacc stands as the cornerstone of this timeless card game, a testament to the delicate balance between skill, strategy, and the unpredictable forces of luck. Played with a deck of 76 cards, the game introduces players to the intricate concept of "Idiot's Array" – a hand coveted by many, achieved by holding the Idiot, a two of any suit, and a three of a different suit. The shifting values of cards, ranging from -10 to +10, make each hand a dynamic blend of calculation and intuition, where players must decide when to hold, fold, or bet with astute precision. In this version, sabacc aficionados navigate the intricacies of Sabacc Shifts, employing tactical maneuvers to alter the value of their hand at critical moments, revealing a game that mirrors the constant ebb and flow of the cosmos itself.

How to Play

The Deck:

The deck consists of four suits: Flasks, Sabers, Staves, and Coins. Each suit has card values from 1 to 15. There are also two of each picture card: The Star (-17), The Evil One (-15), Moderation (-14), Demise (-13), Balance (-11), Endurance (-8), Queen Of Air And Darkness (-2), and The Idiot (0)

Gameplay:

Each Player is dealt two cards.
The game then alternates between hand building, and betting phases.
In the Hand Building Phase, you manage your hand in order to improve your chance of winning. In the Betting Phase, you bet on whether you will win the hand, you can fold at this point if you don't believe it is worth continuing in the current hand.
The aim is to have a total hand value as close to +23 or -23 as possible without going beyond them. Although some tables have rules making -23 a Bomb Out Hand.

The Ante Phase

Buy In: Allows you to join the table to play, it will move the credits you buy in with into your player pot.
Pay Ante: Will pay the ante so you sit at the table. Some tables require you pay a percentage of the sabacc pot in as well as the base ante if you are joining or rejoining a table.
Withdraw: This will return the amount you have in your player pot back to your account.

The Hand Building Phase

Draw A Card: Will take one card from the deck and add it to your hand.
Trade A Card: Will swap your selected card with a card from the deck. (This cannot be done to a card in the disruptor field)
Trade A Card: Will return one of your cards to the deck (only available on some tables, and cannot be done to cards in the disruptor field)
Add Card to disruptor field: Will place your selected card in the disruptor field (to protect it from sabacc shifts)
Remove Card from disruptor field: Will return your card from the disruptor field back to your hand.

The Betting Phase

Bet: This allows you to set the base betting amount for this phase
Raise: This allows you to raise the betting amount for the phase
Fold: This will remove you from the current hand, you will be able to rejoin for the next hand at no extra cost unless you have to buy in again.
Check: Matches the phase betting.Call: This will lead to the hand being over and the winning/losses will be distributed to each player's pots.

Hands

Sabacc has four hand types: The Idiots Array, Pure Sabacc, Value Hand, and Bomb Out.

The Idiots Array

This is where you have the idiot, a 2 value card, and a 3 value card. Some tables will require the value cards to be of the same suit.
A hand with more than three cards is not classed as an idiots array, even if in contains one.
This is the best hand in sabacc and will win you both the hand pot and the sabacc pot, as long as no one else in the hand has the idiots array as well.

Pure Sabacc

This is a hand which totals +23 and some tables accept -23 as well. This will win you both the hand pot and the sabacc pot, if no one has an idiots array, and if no one else in the hand has an equivalent has a matching pure sabacc.

Value Hand

This is a hand where the total value is between -23 and +23. (Sometimes excluding 0). If everyone in the hand has a value hand, then the player who is closest to +- 23 will win the hand pot.

Bomb Out

This is a hand which is either beyond +-23. On some tables 0 and -23 are also Bomb Outs. Any player who has this when the hand is called will have to pay the full value of the hand pot into the sabacc pot.

Sabacc Shifts

Sabacc Shifts can happen after any phase. These will randomly shuffle all cards that are not in the disruptor field.

To indicate one might happen, the card led's will start flashing

If the sabacc shift starts you will see the cards start to change and the led will stay on green.

To prevent a card from shifting you will need to add it to the interference field in the hand building phase.
